- What's new in Java for Mac OS X 2017-001: This package is exclusively intended for support of legacy software and installs the same deprecated version of Java 6 included in the 2015-001, 2014-001, and 2013-005 releases.
- Oct 17, 2015 Get legacy Java for OS X 2015-001 from Apple; That will download an installer that you can use for OS X El Capitan (and Yosemite and Mavericks for that matter). If you run into errors on installation, it’s because you skimmed through the introduction and did not disable SIP / rootless on the Mac. Do that first and Java will install just fine.

May 10, 2009 All Java for Mac is downloaded through Apple. There is no alternative. This is sometimes confusing to PC users, since all Java for Microsoft Windows is downloaded from the Sun Website. https://floornew683.weebly.com/blog/adobe-cs5-master-collection-mac-free-download. There is no Java 1.6 for Mac. Unless I am mistaken, the current version os 1.4.2. Whoever is telling you that you need to install Java 1.6 is mistaken. The OS/X Mavericks ships with Java 1.6, but in case you've installed another version, you can get back with 1.6 if you download a bundle of Java SE 1.6.065 from Apple. If you've installed a later version of Java, e.g. 1.7, for all users, installing the bundle mentioned above will most likely break your existing newer installation. Just upgraded to Mac OS X Leopard with Java 1.6 installed but not the default. What do I need to do to get Intellij 7.0.3 to use Java 1.6 for itself? I was able to get a project to use Java 1.6 but I believe that Intellij will get a speed boost from Java1.6.
